Digitalization with Scheer PAS

Digitalization offers companies considerable opportunities. The majority of company processes can be put into practice significantly more efficiently if they are implemented completely, or at least in part, in digital form. Thanks to advances in technology many existing business models are increasingly being challenged.

The keywords here are digital disruption. These revolutions driven by innovation are mostly associated with particular sectors such as finance or retail.

For banks the most urgent question is how they deal with competition through FinTech companies and blockchain systems. Retailers on the other hand need omni-channel strategies to link their online and offline channels as closely as possible. In both cases technological innovation is leading to massive change. Retailers and banks can either engage actively and treat digitalization as an opportunity or run the risk of being side-lined by new players in their markets.

The sectors described are only stated as examples of a development that goes far beyond the finance industry and the retail sector. In the meantime, all fields of business activity as well as administration of the public sector have been affected by digitalization. The impact of technical change will be significantly greater in the next few years, not least thanks to ever shorter cycles of innovation.

What is digitalization?

The term digitization is used synonymously for many different things. Alongside electronic transformation and the representation of information the word is often used in relation to the digital modification of equipment and vehicles. In our projects we focus on the digitization of operational processes, meaning processes in companies.

What advantages does process digitalization offer?

When process are digitized the intention is mostly to increase the efficiency of operational processes and to reduce costs. The use of software reduces the necessity for manual work, for the most part significantly, and offers employees the opportunity to concentrate on tasks that add value. Comprehensive digitization of process steps means that media disruption no longer occurs. This way the transparency and traceability of processes can be increased. Significant potential for optimization can be shown, especially by the change from manually conducted work to digital processes. The shift from pen and paper to digital processes saves not only costs and processing time but also reduces the number of errors many times over.
